Portraits of Independence

This special book mixes the images of DAA founder/ photographer Ryan Libre with the students he has trained and mentored over the last had spent 5 years while photographing Kachin, its’ communities, refugees, front lines, political ceasefire talks, environmental destruction, cultural and religious oppression.

The pictures won the 2010 Nikon Inspiration Award and have been exhibited over a dozen times including  the Nikon Salons in Tokyo and Osaka, The Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Thailand, The Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan and more.  View a selection of the images
