The Ancient Towers by Zhang Yuming

by Zhang Yuming

(Paperback: 46 Pages, Publisher: Zen Foto Gallery 2010)

In Zhang’s photography there exists not only the basic element of “Spectacle Photography” but also his respect for the ancient towers, which are originally from Eastern traditional culture, and are part of the religious heritage of ancient times. Zhang spent much time in northern China, looking for ancient towers which are not yet restored and through photography expresses the way and state of existence of ancient towers (some of which are substantially dilapidated). Because of the sincere reverence, worship and respect of the artist himself for the towers, the photographs consist of true, honest self-salvation and something that returns to the rational photography experience, the “Image Consolation”.
